Cohen: One more and more to come

Cohen: One more and more to come

A Labour MP, Mr. Harry Cohen, has been told that he must forfeit his £65,000 resettlement grant due a particularly serious breach of parliamentary rules. The Commons Standards and Privileges Committee ruled that he designated a house in Colchester, Essex, as his main home even when he was letting the property to somebody else.  Mr. Cohen claimed and received more than £70,000 in second home allowances from 2004 to 2008.

This is not an issue about a particular individual. This is an issue about the entire British Parliament that has allowed all kinds of abuses and it happened under a Labour Administration that has been in power since 1997.  The extent of what has happened and continues to happen because there are many more cases being investigated tells us that this is not something that could be solved merely by having a General Election.

We have heard of many cases involving people who are letting council properties given to them as social housing units. What can we say then about Members of Parliament, about individuals who make Laws, who should act as role models for the rest of society?

There are hundreds of thousands, even millions of peoples, that do not believe in Democracy any more.  Abstention is not merely due to lack of candidates or policies to attract voters. The problem is much more serious than that. Voters have been given all kinds of ways of expressing their views, but they no longer believe in the system and they stay away and this is extremely dangerous.

  1. Carr says:

Why has this crimanal not been charged with fraud?

  2. Nemesis says:

Excellent. Another scalp for Michael Barnbrook.

The Establishment parties are clearly not fit to govern, nor are any of their faux opposition confections, viz UKIP, English Democrats, Greens, SNP, and Plaid Cymru. Their days are numbered, and they know it.

The BNP revolution is just getting started. Join us.

  3. Liars, thieves and crooks the lot of em. And to forfeit £65k when if it was any of us lesser mortals, we'd be facing a seven-stretch!

If we do get a BNP government, we need to have all these scoundrels retrospectively charged for their corruption. At least it'll keep the lawyers on side with the sheer number of cases that would arise but for once, I wouldn't mind footing the bill.
