Today, Monday, July 25th, 2011, Nick Griffin was re-elected in a first-past-the post election as Leader of the British National Party.
The news came after a recount of ballots requested by supporters of Andrew Brons and the result was set in stone in a contest open to all voting members of the British National Party.
The British National Party, despite the traditional bad press, strongly believes in the democratic process and in winning elections by peaceful means.
It must be said that in this contest, both candidates have shown their democratic credenciales as duly elected Members of the European Parliament.
Whatever happens in other countries, the British National Party stands for Britain and for British interests protected by the rule of law and by-free elections.
In this election, there could have been a vast number of candidates, but only two chose to stand. Let us remember that at a recent General Members Meeting a decision was taken so that any candidate would need only ten signatures to be nominated, that is the standard for elections of Members of Parliament.

Many congratulations for printing the result in an unbiased way.

I agree but,
In politics, there are always those who think that things could be different or better and politics is very much everyday life. We make choices and we commit ourselves to work for what we believe. There will always be a ‘but’. There will always be choices. After we make our choices, we cannot stand still. Whoever doesn’t have doubts is not human, but we musn’t allow our doubts to stop us from moving forward and achieving our objectives.
I am sorry to say this but the BNP really did need a change of leadership.
Well, people make choices. We had a Labour government from 1997 until 2010. Then came a Conservative/Lib Dem Coalition. You wanted a new Leader but others supported another Leader and this is why we have elections. Now, we must work together for the common good.
The BNP now needs to concentrate its efforts in winning elections in those places that are winable.
Any small hamlets will do and can serve as the hard centers for expansion.
We should not waste resources in places where the polls clearly show we can't win right now. If we run candidates all over the place and lose all over the place, that is not a win. That is a loss and it doesn't do us much good.
And, speaking of polls, can we please start getting good ones and can we please start interpreting them correctly?
After a recent failed election attempt I read some party leaders saying they were surprised that we didn't win because they had thought the people were on our side. Geez.
Also, can we please focus on what the voters want?
Well, it up to you to talk about the issues you reckon need to be brought into the debate. The political dialogue never ends. It is an ongoing dialogue.
Well said,HJ11.places like Pershore, where most of the immigrants are illegal farm workers that do not have the right to vote.Where the local English feel marginalised and would take up the BNP banner.
But we also need Nick Griffin to publicly apoligise for comments he has made in the past. If,on Question Time, when he was getting a hard time,he had said…yes,I did deny the Holocaust and I was wrong and I am sorry,it would have been a whole new ball game, but he kept avoiding the issue.
The BNP needs to evolve, and stop pandering to the old dinosaurs and donators with extreme right wing views,or we are finished.
Am I the only person in the party that does not mind a bit of immigration?.I dont think so.
Sometimes,It is also us that has to Wake up and smell the coffee.
The past is the past and it is time to move on. There is too much work to do, especially when the entire country is facing very stark choices. As I myself have said quite few times, the British National Party must focus its energies to deal with urgent matters that affect Britain and forget about meaningless philosophical debates that belong to another time and another place.
No Carlos, you are wrong.the past is not the past. Not when it keeps coming up and biting us on the arse, just as we are crossing the finishing line and tripping us up.
The past must be dealt with, and put to bed;Once and for all.
You say there is to much work to do.What is the point of doing that work when a comment in the public domain from years ago can ruin it all in 10 seconds.
I used to give my last penny to the party; But i have not,for the last year, and I will not, until the party gets its head out of the sand.
The party is knackered,we need to bring on some super subs.
There were criticisms, there are criticisms and there will be criticisms. Because there were criticisms we had an election. The membership has spoken and now we need to try and do things better and move forward. I do believe that both candidates have made their points perfectly clear and fully accept that we need to close ranks and keep working together.
Thank you for printing my views Carlos. My full respect to you sir.

We dont need to continualy apologise Nick made a mistake no one is perfect I wouldn't last 2 minutes under the pressure he is under that's why I appreciate what he does and forgive when he slips up.
If ever the BNP needed a fair election then this was it? now is not the time for but, its a time to get of your back side and unite behind the party and its elected leader. Well done Nick. So lets move forwards as a party on its way up and leave all these silly little one man bands and web sites in our dust, we have a Country to take back.
there WILL be a change of leadership… there is a saying…you get what you want but not always when you want it !oh the ironies of life
If Eddy Butler had not told members to resign, then Andrew Brons would be leader. The margin was so small that just a few votes would have swung it. So the whingers know who to thank….
You make an interesting point. Those who are not members of the party or resign the whip of the party becoming independent or joining other political parties cannot complain if later on they do not have a voice. Opinions can vary but allegiance to the party should never be in doubt. Resigning the whip, for example, a representative can have a very theatrical effect that can damage the party but in party political terms it means that the said representative is giving up his right to have a voice.
excellent point.
You will make the choices that you make and others will make their own choices. Some agree and some disagree and this is what life is about. Making choices. I wish you could make a different choice but then again you must make your own choices.
Note from the Moderator: Both candidates spoke about the issues you mention. Therefore, they are in the hands of proper authorities. It is not the role of London Patriot to interfere in an ongoing legal process.
Get behind the BNP!
Right with you Donna,i only wish that certain people would spend their energies on promting the BNP not wasting time on what has or could have been.Well done to Nick Griffin supporters. Now let's start by using the would 'Helpful'..not doubtful.
Donna i have been away for a while but try to follow you as much as i can. What has happened to the BNP website ? and can you tell me how to get to veiw the latest..many thanks Kev……

Sadly, the much better candidate lost. Had Mr Brons been on question time it would have turned the party around. Yes, Nick is approachable but not as strong as Andrew.
That is your personal opinion. There were more people who had a different opinion and chose another candidate.
We can all dream i suppose…
